Joy from my Hiding Place~
"When the waters rising, when the sun don't shine
I need a place to hide away and some peace tonight
When the waters rise around me, when my worry's all I see
I called your name and you came and found me
Through the darkness I can see, Oh I can see oh
Will you lead me through another day..."

Unwelcome tasks...
"No unwelcome tasks become any the less unwelcome by putting them off
till tomorrow. It is only when they are behind us and done, that we
begin to find that there is a sweetness to be tasted afterwards, and
that the remembrance of unwelcome duties unhesitatingly done is welcome
and pleasant. Accomplished, they are full of blessing, and there is a
smile on their faces as they leave us. Undone, they stand threatening
and disturbing our tranquility, and hindering our communion with God. If
there be lying before you any bit of work from which you shrink, go
straight up to it, and do it at once. The only way to get rid of it is
to do it."
-Alexander MacLaren (1826–1910), Scottish preacher

Here I am again.
"Chief of sinners though I be,
Jesus shed His blood for me;
Died that I might live on high,
Died that I might never die;
As the branch is to the vine,
I am His, and He is mine."
Jesus shed His blood for me;
Died that I might live on high,
Died that I might never die;
As the branch is to the vine,
I am His, and He is mine."
- William McComb, 1864
Wearing flats in the rain
probably doesn't make logical sense. But it makes photographic sense and adds a spring to my step. So it happened. ~

Prayer for the Present~
Father, I know that all my life
Is portioned out for me,
And the changes that are sure to come
I do not fear to see;
I ask Thee for a present mind,
Intent on pleasing Thee.
I would not have the restless will
That hurries to and fro,
Seeking for some great thing to do
Or secret thing to know;
I would be treated as a child
And guided where I go.
Wherever in the world I am,
In whatsoever estate,
I have a fellowship with hearts
To keep and cultivate .
